Jurgen Klopp plays down talk of Daniel Sturridge seeking Liverpool exit

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Sturridge is getting “fed up” of people questioning his desire to play and overcome the problems that have been holding him back.

However, Dyer, who has spent a big chunk of his career battling with injuries, has warned the Reds that they will have to splurge a huge sum of money to find a replacement of his calibre.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Sturridge will be healthy enough in the coming week to make a return to play, but his fitness and dedication at this point has been questioned by fans and the media.

However, Klopp was quick to dismiss the rumours and said that there were no quotes attributed to his striker.

“If you are 26 and get an offer like he got then anyone would think about it. I have no problem with this”.

When asked to comment on such claims at Melwood, Klopp responded: “Daniel Sturridge said this? No?”

None of this is to say that it’s absolutely impossible for there to be any truth to this.

But Klopp insists that he has not heard about Sturridge wanting to leave and explained the striker has been back in full training for the last two days, something which is welcome news.

“It would be cool if we could leave it there and start from now on”.

But splashing the cash on a new goalscorer would be made redundant if Sturridge, who has scored 37 times in 47 league starts for Liverpool, was able to play regularly.

“What each player needs is consistent training – that’s normal”. The day before yesterday he was with Phil and Divock – you see these three players and you know what you have missed.

Sturridge’s fitness issues are starting to become a real dilemma for Liverpool.

“It’s two days training, today would be the third day training”.

“That’s the idea at the moment, if nothing else happens in the next session”.

“Divock, Phil and Daniel in training, of course we think after five minutes maybe we think we can take them back in the squad”.
