Jurgen Klopp plots summer Bundesliga duo raid

It’s clear that both of these players are targets with a medium to long-term plan in mind but it shows the importance of the Reds having a good season this term in order to try and land them ahead of next season. Leicester City turned down a £7m offer for young left-back Ben Chilwell, while Bundesliga sides Gladbach and Dortmund rebuffed bids for midfielders Mahmoud Dahoud and Christian Pulisic respectively.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, they will continue to monitor their progress in the coming months and will hope that the situation changes with both youngsters potentially becoming Liverpool players in the not too distant future. Borussia Monchengladbach were reluctant to lose Dahoud after already selling Granit Xhaka to Arsenal, whereas Dortmund were unwilling to sell their teenage star for £11 million.

Dahoud’s availability is expected to come into sharp focus next summer, when the 20-year-old will have just one year left on his contract after refusing to sign an extension to his current deal with Borussia Monchengladbach this far.

Pulisic, a dynamic goalscoring attacker with world-class potential, would be an excellent signing for the Reds, and Klopp is clearly an admirer from his days as Dortmund manager.

Dortmund rejected Liverpool’s £11million bid during the summer window and told them they weren’t prepared to sanction a sale for the United States of America worldwide.

Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of completing moves for the duo could depend on Champions League qualification this season, with neither likely to be available in the January window. It does not necessarily represent the position of Liverpool Football Club.
