Jurgen Klopp ‘really angry’ after Liverpool’s ‘deserved’ defeat to West Ham
Liverpool had recorded back-to-back 1-0 wins prior to Saturday’s trip to east London, but consistency is an issue for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who were without injured captain Jordan Henderson and striker Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool found themselves behind inside the opening 10 minutes through Michail Antonio before striker Andy Carroll struck West Ham’s second against his former club in the second half.
Jurgen Klopp’s men come into 2016 on a good note having won their last two matches of 2015 1-0, both Christian Benteke goals.
He said that and “nothing more” was what beat the Reds, adding that they “had the ball, had possession” but “not enough” with their finishing. “We have to again accept that we didn’t play like we should”.
West Ham’s first goal, scored by Antonio, was created as a result of an uncalled foul on Alberto Moreno.
Mark Noble was given time to swing in a deep cross from the right and Carroll arrived unmarked to rise above a helpless Clyne and power a header into the far corner.
The Reds boss called it “no day for being disappointed” and insisted that rather “it’s a day for being angry” about their own performance, with Klopp admitting himself he is angry after West Ham leapfrogged his team to move two points ahead of them. At 0-0, you play football and then you will have your chances. “But if the other team has Andy Carroll, how can you allow crosses?” he asked.
The Reds were expected to be active during the window, with some predicting that the German will look to improve several areas of his team. The decisive moments we were there, but we were not there 100 per cent.
Following the win over Leicester City at Anfield last weekend, Sturridge tweeted that he’d returned to full training and that he was “good to go”, much to the bemusement of not only the Liverpool faithful, but of the manager as well. Who wants to see 90 per cent? “It depends how he trains today but I am expecting him to be in the squad”, he said.
Liverpool pressed on for an equaliser towards the end of the first 30 minutes with Benteke in the attack and Lucas marauding from the centre.
But the day belonged to Carroll, who celebrated wildly after scoring a goal against the club who let him leave just 18 months after signing him for £35million.
The first-half injury to West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, who was denied a fabulous goal by the woodwork and had been the outstanding player on the pitch until his early departure.
