Jurgen Klopp Rules Out Steven Gerrard Return
It had been widely publicised there would be a special introduction and guard of honour for Steven Gerrard before the kick-off at Anfield on 16 May, but the offending banner was said to have been so big that fans were unable to see. MLS won’t likely loan him back to Liverpool – the Galaxy will be playing in the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals before the MLS season even begins – and it would have to transfer him to the Reds if he wanted a permanent move.

They are set up to have a young core of players for the next few years. He didn’t ask and I don’t have to think about this.
“Stevie has a contract with LA Galaxy, he loves this club and he is a legend and when his contract has ended we can talk about different stuff”.
“We’re coming off the back of a good result against Chelsea. I know [Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena] quite well now and I’m sure that’s where he’ll be analysing over the winter”.
Klopp, though, dampened expectations of a playing return ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game at Rubin Kazan.
Gerrard, who made 710 appearances for Liverpool and scored 186 goals after being with the club since the age of eight, will continue his TV punditry with BT Sport – but could emerge as a way for Klopp to boost his squad depth in central midfield, with his options now hampered by a number of injuries.
The new Liverpool manager admitted to having contact with the midfielder – a man he referred to as “a very nice guy and Liverpool legend” – in both a phone call and messages. They are on the verge of another Eastern Conference Finals. “I hope you will see that tomorrow”, he added.
“We are here to do our best and if we need to work hard for 95, 96 minutes then we shall do this”.
Gerrard will train at his former club, Liverpool, during the MLS off-season, although there are no indications that he will suit up again for the Reds in an official capacity, according to multiple reports.
“What would have kept me at Liverpool into this season was the chance of shadowing Brendan Rodgers and his staff as well as playing – those ideas were only mentioned to me after I had announced I was leaving”, he said in September.

“Our attitude is always the same – we want the the points”, the Belgian said while also praising his compatriot Christian Benteke.
