Jurgen Klopp speaks ahead of Europa League clash against Augsburg

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has claimed that his future is with Liverpool.

Injury has been a running theme of Sturridge’s career since his breakthrough season at Anfield when his 24 goals almost powered Liverpool to the 2013-14 league title.

But the Samba Boy says the European clash against Augsburg takes priority, with the last 32 tie firmly in the balance following last week’s first leg stalemate in Bavaria.

Coutinho also enthused about his understanding with compatriot Roberto Firmino, “Our understanding is improving and I am learning more and more about the way he likes to play, as well as his movement off the ball”, he said.

The England global started successive games for the first time under Jurgen Klopp last week, although Sturridge was unable to score in a goalless draw with Augsburg in the Europa League. “Manchester City know what we can do, and they will be setting up in a different manner to when that game was played”.

Klopp handed him his Premier League bow when he came off the bench in the recent 6-0 rout of Aston Villa.

He told the press before Thursday’s game against Augsburg: “To say a player doesn’t want to play is the biggest disrespect ever to any footballer and it’s astonishing”.

He could be rested for tomorrow’s return fixture and saved for Sunday’s Capital One Cup final versus Manchester City. “I expect a full-strength Liverpool team, even if they have a final to play on Sunday”. A lot of people talk, I don’t listen, I worry about how my family feel.

The 26-year-old has been criticised by a host of names, including Jamie Carragher, for his fitness record, and the former Chelsea forward admits he felt “hurt” by some of the accusations.

‘It’s important to worry about the present, ‘ said Sturridge. I’m devastated at watching them play. “A few things are clearer now – his future”. No doubt attack-minded approach is what we are going to see at Anfield later tonight so it is surely a great thing for all Liverpool fans to see Sturridge up front.
