Claudio Ranieri’s side were made to appear pedestrian at times by the quick thinking of Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana and the quick feet of Sadio Mane.

Goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane put Liverpool 2-0 ahead, only for terrible play by emergency centre-half Lucas to hand Jamie Vardy a goal for the visitors.

Despite the freaky mishap Liverpool stormed to victory, making it 4-1 with Roberto Firmino’s second goal in the 89th minute.

The Reds have had troubles early in their campaign as they have managed only four points from three games and are placed 11th in the Premier League table.

“We scored wonderful goals and conceded a not-too-wonderful goal”. We have a Champions League game to look forward to, we will wipe the slate clean and work on that’.

“When the Kop started singing it, [Leicester] were alone in front of Simon Mignolet”. “We have a good team spirit here and it helps in moments like this, where you have been beaten”.

“We were waiting for this kind of football, very aggressive and with great spirit”, he told BT Sport.

“I am not silly enough to forget good performances but in the end we will see what happens”. They turned a comfortable win over Arsenal into a nail-biter when they let them back in it, and they could very well do the same against Leicester City.

“We have to clear our minds for the next match”, added the Italian, whose side visit Club Bruges in their first-ever Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

“The plan was he would be on the bench but after training we knew he would have to play”.

“(Against) Arsenal (in the 0-0 draw) we should have had a penalty, they should have had a man sent off.
