Justice League movie ‘Dark Universe’ will go ahead

Justice League Dark has a ton of potential and is the third upcoming DC Comics adaptation which has yet to be officially announced (the others are Batman and Booster Gold/Blue Beetle). If the rumors are true… yes! Pacific Rim helmer Guillermo Del Toro has been attached to direct for years, but after he recently departed the project, it appeared as if that could be it for the long delayed release. Tracking Board reveals that veteran producer Scott Rudin (Steve Jobs) has put Justice League Dark on the fast track at Warner Bros., with tweaks now being made to the script and the hunt for a director beginning.

Will exist within current DC movie continuity. There’s still no word on the exact plot, but the film will essentially serve as a dark fantasy counterpunch to Warner Bros.’ mainstream Justice League film.

Rudin has a long list of film credits dating back to the early 1980s, including “Sleepy Hollow”, “No Country for Old Men”, “The Social Network”, “True Grit” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. Their sources state that Rudin is hoping to start shooting in 2016.

Details on the project remain light, but it is expected to star John Constantine forming a team out of the pick of DC’s magical characters – such as Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Deadman and Etrigan, the Demon – to combat a supernatural threat. The team was initially formed after the Enchantress went mad and took out the Justice League, leaving Earth defenseless.
