The “Love Yourself” singer continued, “So for 1 week it’s ok not to be #1”.

Wishing good luck to the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir, he added: “Let’s do the right thing and help them win”.
This is the closest Christmas Number One race since 2009, when Rage Against The Machine’s single Killing In The Name was pitted against The X Factor victor Joe McElderry’s The Climb.
Barring a last-minute surge, this year’s X Factor victor Louisa Johnson is unlikely to have a look-in for the Christmas Number One.
Bieber this week nudged ahead of the Choir with 3,000 sales making him the current favourite, according to the Official Charts Company.
He also posted a link to the single download.
Bieber’s “Sorry” is also in contention for number one, now sitting at number three in the charts. “I thought this would be a really, really fantastic way to celebrate the NHS and all its dedicated, hard-working staff”.
Campaigner Joe Blunden explained how reaching number one would give NHS staff a “much needed moral boost”. “It is neck and neck and we just need the public to get behind us and cut out your Bieber fever just for one week and get behind the NHS”.
So who will take the number one spot?
“His incredible gesture caught the attention of his 71.9 million followers, even receiving a gracious reply from the NHS Twitter: “Thank you Justin Bieber!” and the NHS Choir, who were grateful for his kind words, even suggesting a collaboration with the American star: “@justinbieber Next time you’re in the United Kingdom, we should have a singalong together. It’s a charity single by an NHS Trust choir.
Stormzy’s Shut Up is holding firm in the Top 10 after he launched a campaign for Christmas number one, settling at number nine in the chart update.
