Justin Bieber’s new album trumps One Direction’s “Made in the AM”

Justin Bieber came into our lives when we were young teens, and we watched him grow up into a man. He started his musical career making R&B and Hip Hop songs, and we watched him go through puberty and his voice change, which changed his music for the better.

The third most popular album was Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream”, produced almost 40 years after his death. “Made In The AM” has managed to shift 14,000 more copies in combined sales than Bieber’s 4th album “Purpose”- Unlucky Bieber! Though much the songwriting leaves something be desired this new Bieber is a more honest and compassionate Bieber, finally able to pull us along on the journey away from his misguided youth.

The question remains: Which album is better?

Its strength lies in its songwriting.

The album hits every boyband trope, from classic goodbye songs to upbeat tunes that make you hope Harry Styles will jump out and take you by the hand. It is clear that Bieber is “sorry” for what he has done in the past. It’s a deeply personal, introspective work that he wrote because he felt it needed to be written.

Don’t fret, the classic Bieber is still evident in songs like “Company”, “Been You”, and “Get Used To It” which all have very pop sounds as he sings about girls just as he always has. For Bieber, it was a way to show that he had matured as an artist, and could move on from tabloid headlines.

“Purpose” truly offers something for everyone.

‘I don’t know when but I would love to perform live with him. Furthermore, the first week sales are the most important in getting the coveted number one album. “I want to share what I’m going through and what I’m feeling and I think it shouldn’t be ostracized”. The song is so subtle and soft that it’s easy to listen to and the lyrics can make a listener feel like One Direction is talking to them personally.

As their first album without Zayn Malik, there was obviously a few concern about how their sound might change.

One Direction promised they will be back soon after their break. “You point and I will get them in the vehicle”.
