Justin Bieber throws his support behind charity single
Sorry, let us explain. The margin later widened to 7,000, but NHS dramatically closed the gap and sat just 662 sales behind Bieber’s single on December 22.

The 21-year-old pop star is now vying with the NHS Choir – which is donating its profits to health charities – for the coveted crown, and Justin has actually urged his fans to ensure the charity record makes it to the top of the charts. “It’s Christmas. NHS Choir, good luck”.
There is still hope for the NHS singers, who were behind by only 3,000 combined sales with their song A Bridge Over You.
Will Justin Bieber lose the chart battle?
Stormzy’s single Shut Up is also gaining traction after the grime artist – real name Michael Omari – launched a Twitter campaign to take his song to the top.
“I thought getting the song to number one would be a fantastic celebration of the NHS and a big morale booster as morale is low at the moment”.
One mother responded: “My 18 months baby boy would not have made it if it weren’t for the wonderful NHS”, while another commented that “Our NHS are the most unbelievable health establishment and they do not get anywhere near enough praise, recognition or pay”. But physical copies of his single are limited, unlike the Choir’s who are stocked across the country.
The Christmas number one is based on a combination of sales and streaming and will be announced on Radio 1 on Christmas Day.
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir gave a tough competition to Justin Bieber over the weekend with their mash-up of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water and Fix You by Coldplay.

Previously, Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company, said, “As well as climaxing on Christmas Day for just the fourth time in history, this year’s race for the festive Number 1 is looking like one of the closest ever”.
