Justin Gatlin’s advice to a young Justin Gatlin

RIO DE JANEIRO Usain Bolt admitted to being surprised by Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse’s final burst of speed in Wednesday’s Olympic 200 meters semi-final.

Bolt was joined in the next round by countryman Yohan Blake who ran second in heat two in a time of 20.13, behind victor Bruno Hortelano of Spain (20.12).

Earlier in the Rio Games, De Grasse shared the podium with Bolt following the men’s 100m finals.

Usain Bolt ran his fastest time of the year, 19.78 seconds, to win his 200m semifinal heat.

“Usain is an easy going guy, he would not even take offense, why should you?”

He finished fourth. The previous Olympic final saw Bolt set a then-world record of 19.30 in winning gold.

The two men have also seemed to form something of a relationship and they make a pair – the soon to be 30-year-old Jamaican who is 6-foot-5; the 21-year-old Canadian who is 5-foot-10 on a good day. I am disappointed with that run.

“I was a bit lazy, I don’t know why, but I executed it”.

Expect more hugs and smiles after the final.

Bolt has won the last two Olympic titles and four successive world championships over his favorite distance.

Bolt crossed the finish line with a time of 19.78 seconds.

For the record, Bolt’s time in the 100-meter final was 9.81 seconds, which means Brooks solved the puzzle in less than 9.5 seconds.

While Bolt is looking to complete the 100/200 double for the third consecutive Olympics, there’s also his stated desire to break his world record of 19.19 seconds to keep in mind ahead of Thursday’s final.

On Sunday, he took bronze in the 100-metre final behind Bolt and Justin Gatlin. I knew I could rely on my strength to bring me home.

Thompson’s latest victory made her the first woman to win the 100 and 200 at the Olympics since Florence Griffith Joyner at the 1988 Seoul Games. If I can run a little more efficiently on the turns.
