Justin Leonard part of 4-way tie for lead in Mexico

Graeme McDowell heads into Monday’s delayed final-round action at the OHL Classic as joint leader with Scotland’s Russell Knox, after play was suspended due to darkness with the Northern Irishman through 13 holes.

Baddeley made seven birdies and one bogey, arriving in Mexico after a fourth place finish at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship.

McDowell was at 12-under 130. McDowell, the 2010 US Open champion trying to find his way back to the winner’s circle for the first time since 2013, found himself in trouble at El Camaleon’s first hole for the third straight day.

Had the second drive been out-of-bounds too, he would have been forced to play again from the tee, but the ball stopped narrowly in play and he salvaged what in the end was a good double-bogey. I’m putting nicely and decisively. His best finish this year was a tie for ninth in the Dubai Desert Classic.

Second-ranked Inbee Park, defending champion Christina Kim, Angela Stanford and rookie of the year Sei Young Kim were tied for second in the 36-player event. “Thankfully, my second ball kicked in-bounds”, said the Ryder Cup player, who also bogeyed the first hole in his second round, which he began from the 10th.

McDowell was six under through 13 holes and Knox had picked up six shots through 12 to be two strokes clear atop the leaderboard. “I’ve just got to go have fun, play golf, play my game”, he said.

He sits on 19-under-par for the tournament, with American Jason Bohn two shots back from the leading pair.

Matt Kuchar, at 16 in the world’s top-ranked player in Mayakoba, opened with a 72.

“It’s the result of three or four months of grinding”, McDowell said. PGA officials just told news that the action will resume later today and continue on Monday. I walked off with a 5.
