Authorities believe that the cause of his death was consistent with a fall.

A week after his disappearance, members of his former band issued a statement addressing his absence and apparent mental-health issues. Knudson says Lowe had been reported missing on Saturday. His vehicle was found in a parking lot of the bridge above the river. The band held off on commenting a couple of days, revealing that the musician had actually gone missing and that he was in a broken state of mind and that they feared any statement might inhibit the search to find him.

The heavy-metal band, which was formed in 2004 by a group of high school teens, seems to have a large national following.

Lowe announced his departure from After the Burial in a disturbing Facebook post last month (Jun15), ranting about a conspiracy against him, the sabotage of his computer, allegations of drugs, abuse and cheating, and his belief he had been accused of staging a friend’s death. They went on to make four albums, three with Los Angeles metal label Sumerian Records working with producers and engineers from the Pantera and Meshuggah camps. As a part of that tour, the band has a hometown show in Minneapolis at the Skyway Theater that is scheduled for July 31st, 2015.

Part of what defined ATB’s extreme sound was Lowe’s and Hafdahl’s use of unique eight-string guitars, with two thicker strings for an extra low low-bottom.

This is a very sad and hurtful situation for us to grasp, and unfortunately it is one we still don’t fully understand. “We will continue to support him and his family as best we can through this tough time”. Rest In Peace Justin Lowe, our condolences go out to his family, and friends during this hard time. He was such a unique person and changed my life in so many ways.
