The band’s the Man Machine Poem Tour kicked off on July 22 in Victoria, BC and will wrap up in Kingston, ON on August 20.

The concert is being held Saturday night in The Tragically Hip’s hometown of Kingston.
Yet how many people will watch is anybody’s guess at this point. Lead singer Gord Downie was prior diagnosed with brain cancer.
The CBC made the decision to broadcast the show – which will interrupt Olympic coverage on the final evening of competition – after concert tickets became very costly and almost impossible to get for fans wanting to see the band play one last time.
“On 102.1 The Edge’s morning show on Monday, Alan Cross, an iconic Canadian broadcaster and writer most known for his show ‘The Ongoing History of New Music” shared some of the things he’s come across from fans.
The broadcaster has retained the rights to stream the concert live via various platforms, including television, radio and the CBC Music’s app for iOS and Android.
The broadcast will be preceded by a tailgate party in Canada Games Plaza from 11 – 2pm.
Fay quickly asserted to Zimmer, “The Tragically Hip has never been booed out of anywhere!”
For more info on the live broadcast, visit the CBC Music website and check out the promo video below.
Fans who were shut out from attending the live event have been planning viewing parties across the country, while some local communities are holding public screenings and afternoon entertainment in the lead-up to the concert. Viewers who playback the show on their DVRs within seven days will also be included in the final numbers.
“Our system captures all viewing”, Jenks said. Food and soft drinks will be available for purchase at the concession stand in the Duncan McIntosh arena.
“I want to be where everyone is just singing along and passionate about the band”, she said.
