Juventus eye Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian

The relationship between Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Matteo Darmian is in “total breakdown”, according to reports. Bianconeri defender Stephan Lichtsteiner’s relationship with the club has soured massively in recent weeks, meaning he is nearly certain to leave in the next transfer window.

Tuttosport claim that Darmian has no future at Old Trafford and is free to leave the club in the near future.

Darmian made 39 appearances for Man United last season after joining from Torino.

The Italian champions are keen to sign the 26-year-old as a replacement for Switzerland defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, who reportedly wants to join Inter Milan.

Darmian, 26, who only signed from Torino past year, has seen his playing time nullified this term with the “Special One” favouring Antonio Valencia for the right-back position.

With Valencia not returning to training from worldwide duty until tomorrow, it remains to be seen whether Darmian finds a place in the squad for the Manchester derby this Saturday.

Juventus have kept a close watch on proceedings at Old Trafford regarding Darmian, and could make a move for Italian during the January transfer window.
