“Pogba is now holidaying in Miami and his agent Mino Raiola has hinted his man could yet stay in Turin where an improved contract is up for discussion”.

United are in China for a short pre-season trip but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has stayed behind to lead the Pogba negotiations, according to several national newspapers, such as the Daily Mail.

Zidane’s latest comments could be seen as boosting United’s ongoing pursuit of Pogba. While Manchester United are very close to closing out a deal for the Juventus midfielder – according to various reports – the player himself is not in any rush to sign.

Fabrizio Romano of Sky Italia is reporting that Mino Raiola has already reached a fee agreement for his own personal compensation with Manchester United and that Paul Pogba is ready and willing to accept Manchester United’s contract offer. Away on holiday in the United States of America, photographs circulated in this morning’s media of the player with an e-cigarette, an indiscretion which is likely to see him fined by Juventus and warned to be more media savvy by his new club.

Pogba refused to publicly clarify his future in a brief interview on ESPN at the ESPYs awards in Los Angeles last week, where he was asked what he would do if Mourinho called him.

La Gazzetta dello Sport dedicated the first three pages of Wednesday’s edition to the claims that the 23-year-old is set to move on, with the front-page headline reading: “Pogba has decided: dear Juve, let me go”.

With defender Eric Bailly signing from Villarreal, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan arriving from Borussia Dortmund, and striker Zlatan Ibarhimovic moving on a free transfer, the fourth target is widely thought to be Juventus midfielder Pogba. He is completely obsessed and thinking “maybe one year more and we can do it”.
