Juventus sign Higuain for 90 million euros

Higuain, who joined Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013 for £34.5m, was linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal earlier this month.

Napoli are reportedly in talks with Inter over the prospect of signing Mauro Icardi as Higuain’s replacement.

The Turin club has agreed to pay the €94.7m release clause in his contract and according to reports in Italy, the Argentine global passed a medical last night.

In a statement, the Turin giants said: “Juventus Football Club announces the definitive purchase of Gonzalo Gerardo Higuain for the sum of 90m euros, payable over two equal instalments in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018”.

Roma icon Francesco Totti has bemoaned the lack of loyalty in modern football, with Gonazalo Higuain’s €90 million move from Napoli to Juventus not impressing the 39-year-old former Italian global.

Higuain scored a remarkable 36 goals in 35 Serie A games last season as Napoli finished second in the table, nine points behind Juve.

Roma great Francesco Totti has hit out at Gonzalo Higuain’s EUR90 million move from Napoli to Juventus, claiming modern players do not feel any loyalty toward a club.

The fee for the forward is understood to be the €94m (£79m) set in his buyout clause.

Higuain hasn’t been able to add the Serie A title to the three La Liga championships he won when at Real Madrid, but his move to the holders is likely to see that streak end sooner rather than later.

Napoli already had their sights set on Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, although Ajax’s Poland worldwide Arkadiusz Milik is understood to be a more realistic replacement for Higuain.

He joins fellow summer signings Dani Alves, Miralem Pjanic, Medhi Benatia and Marko Pjaca, signing a four-year-contract with Massimiliano Allegri’s side after Juve met the striker’s minimum fee release clause was met.
