‘Kabali’ box office report: Record breaking collections from North India, US

The Tamil film, which has been dubbed in other languages like Hindi, Telugu and Malay, witnessed a steady growth especially for the Hindi version.

This takes the overall box office collections of Kabali, from its opening weekend, to an outrageous 350 Crore rupees, smashing all records in the process to become the highest Indian opening grosser.

“In India, the film has earned Rs 250 crore, which includes Rs 100 crore from Tamil Nadu and Rs 150 crore from places outside the state in India”, the makers of Kabali said in a statement, adding that the Pa Ranjith directorial has approximately collected 100 Crore rupees from outside India. It has to be seen whether the film can sustain the momentum through the first week.

According to the sources, the climax was changed because the Censor Board in Malaysia would not allow their police to be show encouraging an extra judicial killing as in Indian version the Malaysian police are shown giving a gun to one of Kabali’s men to shoot him dead.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film Kabali, which is receiving enormous response from audiences across India, has minted Rs 11.4 crore in two days in the north Indian market.

Like before every release of his, the Rajini mania has gripped India and even some countries where he has fans, like the UK, US, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan.

Amidst all the hype surrounding the release of the movie, Rajinikanth, who was holidaying in the US, returned to the city on Sunday. “Despite mixed reviews, the film has done exceptionally well across all centres throughout North America”. On Day 1, the record collections were mindboggling at Rs. 48 crore, crossing even Salman Khan’s “Sultan” collections. On Friday, the film made Rs 21.5 crore in Tamil Nadu alone.
