Amid the first day frenzy most visible in Chennai and other cities in Tamil Nadu and even in Benguluru, fans jostled to enter cinema halls in T-shirts and masks featuring their beloved “Thalaivar”.
Mr Prusothman, who watched the movie on Friday evening (July 22) with two of his friends, said he had bought his tickets online the day before.
The latest Tamil blockbuster, Kabali, had a tremendous opening in Malaysia today with thousands of die-hard fans of “Superstar” Rajnikanth flocking to cinemas. We were expecting more from the storyline, but it was fine.
“The movie has all ingredients to satisfy Rajini fans like stunt, punch dialogues, super songs etc”.
A fan pours milk on the poster of superstar Rajinikanth in Bengaluru on Friday.
Superstar Rajinikanth and daughter Aishwaryaa R. Dhanush watched the special show of “Kabali” in United States on Wednesday evening.
They insisted that they wanted to watch the movie along with the actor’s fans in a Chennai theatre as promised but were offered a screening elsewhere. He started in small roles as villains in Tamil cinema and worked his way up, even landing roles in Bollywood, the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai.
On the whole, KABALI is an archetypal Rajinikanth film that will surely be lapped up by his hardcore fans. Time to celebrate. First day first show. One of Rajini’s fans painted his body with Rajinikanth’s picture.

The Indian film fraternity went onto their social media accounts praising Thalaiva on the occasion of the first day of the film’s release. The gangster drama has been shot in Chennai, Bangkok, Malaysia and Hong Kong, and also stars Taiwanese actor Winstan Chao as the principal antagonist. Going by the craze and madness surrounding the film, it shouldn’t be a surprise if it gathers almost 50 Crores from its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu alone. In one incident, a fan from Tamil Nadu attempted to overdose on sleeping pills and later told doctors and his family that he had been trying to “end his life” and donate his kidneys to the actor. T-shirts and jackets sporting the superhero’s face and his trademark dark glasses aere hot favorites.
