Last week, Kaepernick refused to stand during the national anthem before the 49ers’ pre-season game.

Toward that end, Kaepernick said he plans to keep kneeling during the national anthem, but also suggested that at some point his protest could end.

The team reiterated Friday night that it stands behind Kaepernick and respects his right not to participate in celebrating the national anthem.

Kaepernick started and played very well during the 49ers 31-21 win at San Diego in their fourth and final preseason game.

“As we talked about it, we came up with taking a knee, because there are issues that still need to be addressed”.

“More than anything, the people just saying, ‘We support you, we’re with you, don’t let anybody deter you from what you’re trying to do, ‘ ” he said.

According to an NFL.com report, Kaepernick and Reid discussed their joint protest extensively before the game. “I have the utmost respect for them”. One fan, Paul Bradley of San Diego, posted a video to Instagram of the paratroopers titled “Suck that Kaepernick”.

“The board of directors of the Santa Clara Police Officer’s Association has a duty to protect its members and work to make all of their workings environments free of harassing behavior”, the letter added.

“I’m already hearing it this week that next week on ‘Monday Night Football, ‘ some officers are not going to work”, Saunders said. “I have to stand up for people that are oppressed”.

“I just wanted to show my support for him”, Reid said.

Kaepernick said Thursday he will donate the first $1 million he earned this season to organizations that empower local communities. And I think people that are voting in the blind are doing a disservice to our country by not being better informed.

“It’s America and I’m just as [mad] as Colin Kaepernick about young African-American men that are unarmed being killed by a rogue few police officers without any consequence.but, it’s the way that you put your message out”.

Santa Clara Police Department spokesperson Lt. Dan Moreno told USA TODAY Sports in a text message that the agency would issue a response to the letter on Saturday.

Kaepernick insists that he is not anti-American and that his protest against police brutality and racial inequality has been “distorted” by the media.
