ESPN sideline reporter Lindsay Czarniak said that “seven or eight” of Kaepernick’s teammates immediately hugged the quarterback as the anthem concluded, and that some 49ers said today that the discussions the protests have started have “brought the team together”.

Reid joined him during the final exhibition game when the two made a decision to kneel, instead of sit, in a move meant to show more respect to veterans.

Seventeen NFL players and other USA athletes have joined the protest in the past week. You need those players.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones says baseball players haven’t joined 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his national anthem protest because they are concerned about losing their jobs. “In baseball, they don’t need us”.

Another student, Stewart Millar, said any one that doesn’t like how the students protested is going against what America stands for.

The network was initially not going to cover the anthem itself and would rely on replays, according to producer Jay Rothman on a national conference call August 30. “I don’t think they’re trying to make anyone upset about it, just trying to get people to talk about things”, Justin Kolbeck of Cherry Hill said. Critics say the silent protest is just a distraction from the real issue and there are other ways to take a stance.

Several Tennessee Titans players also raised their fists during the national anthem and the Seattle Seahawks locked arms before their home game against the Miami Dolphins, while several Dolphin players took a knee. “But when people that are not of color speak up, it’s their right”.
