Kaepernick plans to sit out national anthem again – on ‘Military Night’

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick pushed back on Thursday against the outcry over his decision to wear socks depicting police as pigs, Fusion reported. I have two uncles and friends who are police officers and work to protect to serve ALL people.

More recently, players for the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Minnesota Lynx took the court last month with warmup shirts that said “Black Lives Matter”.

He will be under great scrutiny at the game in San Diego, where the Chargers will be putting on their annual “Salute to the Military”.

Yet moments later, as a 49ers team official pulled Kaepernick away from the fans and into the tunnel, a man snidely insinuated Thursday night’s game would be Kaepernick’s last.

The QB was joined by team-mate Eric Reid, who was kneeling on the sideline as the national anthem was performed at Qualcomm Stadium before the 49ers played the San Diego Chargers.

The 49ers quarterback said he refused to honor a flag that represents a country in which minorities are mistreated, particularly by the police.

How many people burning jerseys with Kaepernick’s number have spent time in harm’s way in defense of this country, which grants them the so-called liberties that they love? Most of the people I talk to say the same thing.

The heated conversation that Colin Kaepernick touched off with his decision to protest police brutality is still raging, nearly a week after it was noticed that he remains seated during the playing of the national anthem at games.

During the singing of God Bless America he remained standing and applauded.

“It’s not for me, ” he said before ducking into the tunnel and heading to the locker room.

While negative reaction to the quarterback has been strong, Kaepernick also has been widely praised for his commitment to his stance.
