Kaine Contradicts Clinton Campaign: I Didn’t Flip-Flop on Taxpayer-Funded Abortion

A large portion of Kaine’s speech was dedicated to bashing Trump’s rhetoric and policy proposals.

Kaine was the governor of Virginia when a gunman killed 32 people at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007.

But that’s not true. The video playing for convention delegates said Kaine’s life was “built on selfless humble service” and that he had a “Midwestern start in a working-class home in Kansas City”.

Former President Bill Clinton, who joined Kaine and his wife at the event, agreed: “I cannot conceive how you can say that about a Gold Star mother”.

Clinton isn’t going to change “because the special interests and her lobbyists will never ever let her change, believe me”, he said, followed later by “you’re going to have jobs flowing in, believe me”.

“Hillary Clinton and I are compañeros del alma”, he said, using the Spanish term for soulmates.

Clinton used her first television interview since officially clinching the Democratic nomination to cast Trump as dangerously pro-Russia and an unknown quantity for US voters.

Khizr Khan (KY’zer KAHN’), who lost his son in Iraq, gave an emotional anti-Trump speech at the Democratic National Convention; Trump responded by suggesting his wife didn’t speak because she wasn’t allowed. “Folks, you can not believe one word that comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth”. “So, you know, voters can be 100 percent confident that Tim Kaine is going to fight to protect a woman’s right to choose”.

Earlier this month – prior to being selected as Clinton’s running mate – Kaine, a Catholic, told The Weekly Standard, “I have traditionally been a supporter of the Hyde amendment”.

And Kaine said Trump University, which is funded by the Republican presidential nominee, has scammed many students out of education. After Clinton called it the “gold standard” of trade deals while secretary of state, she has come to oppose the pact, like most congressional Democrats including Sanders.

Mr Kaine, a 58-year-old senator from the battleground state of Virginia, was nominated by voice vote.

“I don’t think cybersecurity is a big joking matter”, Kaine told Tapper.

Thousands packed the convention floor to hear Clinton deliver a unifying message, acknowledging the tough challenges faced by the nation, saying “none of us can do it alone – that’s why we are stronger together”.

Trump has made plans to visit some of the same areas Clinton is campaigning in during her three-day bus tour through OH and Pennsylvania, scheduling Monday stops in Columbus and Cleveland.
