Kaine Questions Trump’s Temperament at a Campaign Stop in Austin

Tim Kaine said the Clinton campaign believes it can win Texas and is “very serious” about mounting a full-scale effort to move the state into the Democratic column for the first time since the 1976 presidential race.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine will be in Blaine County raising money next week.

Earlier Wednesday evening, Kaine hobnobbed with high-profile Louisiana Democrats at a fundraiser at Calcesieu, the private event space above Cochon restaurant.

The price of entry for the fundraisers ranged from $50,000 for a “chair” to $2,700 for a “champion”. The vice presidential nominee is on a jobs tour, touting the 100-day jobs plan of presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. He paid special attention to the state when he ran the party’s national committee from 2009 to 2011.

Asked why the venue was picked, one in attendance quipped of the heat, “Hell was taken”.

“The 2nd amendment people have unbelievable spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power”, said Trump Campaign Senior Advisor Jason Miller.

And in Dallas he was scheduled to have a reception at the home of Gabby and Franklin McLarty, longtime supporters of Hillary Clinton.

“Nobody who is seeking a leadership position – especially the presidency, the leadership of the country – should do anything to countenance violence, and that’s what he was saying”, the Virginia senator told reporters after a campaign event here.

“We’re all working so hard to try to get Hillary and Tim elected, any time to see him face to face is an incredible opportunity”, said volunteer Kyle Johnson.

Trump has also been busy filling his campaign coffers with Texas dollars.

“Now, Donald Trump has a passion too”, said Kaine. Over the next few minutes, the two went back and forth in Spanish, with Trump’s name coming up at least once. “It is about every door, every phone call and every vote”. “It’s not that hard”, Kaine said.

“This is a guy that just oozes gentleman-ness”, Montoya said, “just oozes the ability to listen to people”.
