Kaine Refuses to Say Hillary Lied, Promises to Be ‘Absolutely’ Transparent

When she first acknowledged the use of private emails in March 2015, Clinton said: “I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email”.

Sen. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s running mate, promises to be “real transparent” on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press.’ Clinton claimed this week that she “short-circuited” when she told Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace that Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey found her answers on the controversy “truthful” and “consistent”. Contrary to the narrative spun by the Trump campaign, Clinton did not say she herself “short-circuited”. In answering, Clinton sought to defuse a controversy over recent remarks in which she cited Comey’s testimony to demonstrate she was truthful about her private email use and had not put at risk classified information in the messages she sent and received.

“She was saying what Director Comey acknowledged to be true, that when she spoke to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. the FBI thought her answers in that setting were truthful”. She merely said she short-circuited her answer on Fox News – an answer that, after all, earned her Four Pinocchios. Welker continued that this claim was “debunked by fact checkers, because Comey vouched for her statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but not what she told the public”.

At least for now, her reluctance to hold a press conference hasn’t hurt her in the polls: In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal national poll, Clinton held a 9 point lead over her Republican challenger Donald Trump. Beyond high information voters’ wildest scenarios concerning last Sunday’s Chris Wallace interview on Fox News, she persists with the fable she did not lie about her personal email server.

MAURICE DUBOIS: Hillary Clinton says she did not mean to imply that FBI Director James Comey vouches for the truth of her public statements about her e-mails. But the bottom line is this.

“I may have short-circuited and for that I will try to clarify”, she said.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Hillary Clinton met with the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists here today.

FBI Director James Comey has said Clinton was truthful to the agency when they investigated the matter, but has declined to say if he believes she was truthful with the public.

CHUCK TODD: You know, in fact, in an interview the other day, you said she told you she’s going to do it differently. But he has also questioned the accuracy of some of the public statements she’s made about the issue.

WELKER (voice-over): But then, bringing back one of her previous explanations. Can you conclude here whether or not Secretary Clinton lied to the American public about sending and receiving classified e-mails? He also said other emails deleted from Clinton’s server also probably had classified markings at the time. But, instead of answering questions about her emails with any degree of finesse on Friday, Hillary Clinton unabashedly repeated claims that have already been debunked, as reported by CNN.
