NOTES: MLS All-Star head coach Pablo Mastroeni made two late additions to the roster. “For a guy who’s done everything you can pretty much do in a football career and still have this desire to come and participate in Colorado, in altitude, mid-week, and be excited and hungry about it?”

Sporting a slicked back hairstyle, Kaka confidently nestled the penalty into the bottom left corner as the All-Stars took the lead.

“They start a couple of wonderful players like Kaka, Villa”, Pochettino said. “So yeah it’s good, but I don’t think maybe we’ll always get the credit it deserves”.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane, denied twice from close range by MLS goalkeeper Nick Rimando, pulled one back for Spurs with a sublime individual effort on 37 minutes. The two saves came after another one on Kane in the ninth minute. In the 22nd minute, Rimando made a leg save on a shot from inside the six by Kane and 12 mintes later the 22-year old strike was in front of Rimando forcing a point blank save.

“I feel comfortable wherever I go”, Yedlin said. “Sometimes you’re better off scuffing them in and bobbling them in”.

“At the end of the day, you want to win the game, ” Yedlin said. The side that MLS is fielding looks suspiciously like a defensively suspect but high spending top-flight English side from a handful of years ago.

Schmid had said he hoped neither of his All-Stars would play more than half the game, but took a wait-and-see attitude toward their availability for Saturday, when the Sounders return to MLS play against the Vancouver Whitecaps at CenturyLink Field. The night combined his enduring ability with his relish of big occasions. And for the most part, they did a good job.

Referee performance Ismail Elfath had a fairly easy game to deal with this evening as he correctly gave the penalty against Spurs because of Chadli’s handball, and then had very little to do apart from book Eric Dier for a poor challenge.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid ace, who now plays for Florida-based side Orlando City, has scored nine times this term for his club in the Eastern Division.

“DeAndre is very young”, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said. “It was hard for our players”. “For me, it’ll be my first recreation of the pre-season, so I’m wanting ahead to it”.
