Kane and more: Tottenham stars congratulate Son on debut goal

A second successive 1-0 victory and another clean sheet will have pleased manager Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham climbed into the top half of the Premier League following a win over the very capable Crystal Palace, who have already won away at Chelsea this season.

“At all clubs, when you sign a player the expectation is big, and I’m happy because he’s scored twice on Thursday and again today”.

The England worldwide has so far failed to add to his tally of 24 Premier League goals from last season, and has looked a shadow of the player that took the top-flight by storm a year ago.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace had a run of two consecutive wins before succumbing to league leader Manchester City, 0-1, in their game last Saturday at the Selhurst Park, via The Independent.

“I’m an experienced manager, I know a good side when I see one – this is a good side“, he said. We wanted to sign him because his profile is one I like – he can press high, a lot of energy, a high tempo.

It was an important win for Spurs, who are slowly but surely finding their feet.

With shot-shy Harry Kane looking short of confidence and yet to find the net in the league, Son’s instant impact is taking the heat off last season’s top scorer.

“We have a lot of games ahead and we need to be careful with the players”. Kane’s presence up front meant Son moved into a deeper role, but he was no less effective as he roamed menacingly across Tottenham’s attacking midfield trio.

Though the Europa League has proven to be an unwanted distraction during previous seasons, the additional carrot of a Champions League place being on offer for the victorious team means Tottenham would be well advised to take the continent’s second-tier competition more seriously.

Naturally, they respect Son’s tireless work rate, clever movement and eye for goal, but the 23-year-old is also a popular figure because he served up a posh Korean takeaway at the club’s training ground. Sometimes exposed by Palace’s pace, but solid enough. Alan Pardew’s team went even closer just before half-time through French midfielder Yohan Cabaye, who unloaded a swerving strike that cannoned off the far post with Lloris beaten.
