Kane dreaming of Premier League title win

Erik Lamela could be the only major doubt for Tottenham Hotspur against Chelsea on Sunday as the midfield looks to overcome a groin injury, as per the Guardian.

Another factor that could play into Mourinho’s hands for this contest is his counterpart’s lack of desire for the game to be played at the time it’s scheduled for.

The race atop the Premier League table is close at the moment, and the race for the title could be considered wide open.

Tottenham’s good run continued with a 1-0 win over Qarabag on Thursday to progress through to the Europa League knockout phase. And good players, which they have.

It would also be another near-fatal blow to Chelsea’s own chances of finishing in the top four this season, and plunge the club back into crisis, so it is little wonder Mourinho is conspicuously amping up the mental tension for Tottenham’s players in his own way. Dier maintains Spurs were the better team in the Wembley game but he concedes Chelsea, who closed out a 2-0 win, had the know-how.

“You could tell they had a lot of experienced players who have played a lot of games and won a lot of trophies, and they knew how to win, how to grind out a result”. They go smoothly, step by step, build a team, new players, give conditions for the young players to develop.

While Tottenham rolls along, Chelsea slogged.

“We have to play every match as if we are fighting for the title”, he said.

Hazard has scored in his last three encounters with Tottenham and this could lay the scene for him to rediscover the form he’s been missing this season. We have a strong squad and a strong mentality, with the maturity.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has called for help from the Premier League on the fixture calendar for teams in Europe but Spurs go into today’s game with Mourinho tipping them as contenders for the title.

Mourinho did not speak to his opposite number after that match and, although Pochettino has a good relationship with the Chelsea chief, he will be hoping to get under his skin again on Sunday. “I can imagine, with the stability they are showing, that sooner or later – I think sooner – they will be there, winning trophies or in a Champions League position, for sure”.

Kane ran Chelsea’s defence ragged that afternoon, turning Gary Cahill this way and that, tormenting a back line far more solid than the one this season which has only been breached more times than the five teams below them and twice as much as the teams who will challenge for European qualification.

“For many players it was that belief that we can achieve important things”. That’s mainly down to star man Kane getting back amongst the goals finally and leading the team to wins.
