After the camp finishes on Sunday, the Blackhawks will host the Red Wings in their first preseason game on Tuesday at the United Center.

Kane, 26, is still under police investigation for an incident involving a woman at his off-season home in Hamburg, New York.

Blackhawks officials are aware of the same optics that EA Sports considered when scrubbing Kane from their product’s cover, knowing the possible damage to their brand if their logo remains emblazoned on his chest.

Kane was listed on the roster of players set to attend camp.

Team leaders haven’t commented on Kane’s situation, but they may respond at press appearances on Thursday. Whether Kane will be playing is still to be seen. Kane remains under investigation for an asserted sexual assault since August.

TSN’s Darren Dreger said Monday that since Kane has yet to be charged with a crime, there is no “logistical” reason for him to be withheld from participating in training camp. Reportedly it’s going to start again, but the question is will the most important witness cooperate? There was too much turnover during the offseason.

The Blackhawks need Patrick Kane if they want to have a good chance at repeating as Stanley Cup Champions.

It is not the same team that won the Cup a few months ago. That time is just about here, but it seems we’ll know more about Kane’s status, at least as far as the league is concerned, very soon.

The NHL will wait for the legal process to play out in the sexual assault investigation involving Patrick Kane before making any decisions about his future
