Kansas bill would allow same-day voter registration

February 1 is the deadline to register in time for the March 1 Primary Election in Texas. Under current Kansas law, voters have to be registered at least 21 days before an election.

A Wilson County Election Commission representative will be available Monday at Mt. Juliet City Hall to assist registered voters who may need to change their addresses or make other changes to their registration, as well as accept new registrations.

The County Election Board will respond in writing to each person who submits an application for voter registration.

Local and state officials are recommending voters take advantage of early voting because of unpredictable winter weather and an incredibly long ballot.

“It’s important, especially for young people, to get out and vote and exercise their right”, said A.J. Starling with the Davidson County Election Commission. Early voting in Lebanon, Gladeville, Mt. Juliet and Watertown will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. If an applicant already has any of the following documents, they are not eligible to receive an EIC: Texas driver license, Texas personal identification card, U.S. passport, Texas concealed handgun license, U.S. Military identification with photo, or U.S. Citizenship Certificate or Certificate of Naturalization with photo.
