Hundreds of thousands of fans gathered in this city’s downtown for a parade to celebrate the Kansas City Royals’ second World Series title, a feat that ended a 30-year championship drought.

The team that didn’t score once in eight innings would go on to score seven runs in the game because, well, they’re the Royals. That seems to show just how loyal many fans have been to a team that has waited three decades for this latest title.

According to SB Nation, it looks like a few burly University of Kansas fans took to Memorial Stadium, broke in, and ripped one of the goal posts straight out of the ground in the middle of the night, likely in celebration of the Kansas City Royals winning their first World Series since 1985. In so doing, he became the first pitcher to throw a complete game in the World Series since Jack Morris in 1991.
The Royals were behind 2-0 in the top of the ninth, when Kansas scored two runs to tie the game sending it off to extra innings. From what I’ve gathered, the Royals will make it a priority to bring back both Gordon and Zobrist, but that won’t be easy considering Gordon is the game’s best defensive left fielder and Zobrist’s stock has risen with his strong postseason performance.
