A high school football player from western Kansas who collapsed on the sidelines during a playoff game has died, becoming the 11th confirmed USA high school football fatality since July, his family and researchers said. Luke was flown to Swedish Medical Center near Denver, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday night after being taken off life support.
“The team was gathered on the sidelines getting ready to go for the kick”. “Luke gave everything in life he had, in every moment”.
In a Facebook status Wednesday morning, his father David Schemm informed people of his son’s death. “Before they even left the sideline, he just collapsed”, said Brian McVay, superintendent and principal of Wallace County schools.
Luke Schenn, who ran track and played basketball at the school and participated in music and theater, planned to attend Kansas State University next year. “He lived life with a passion”.
That’s what Ted Brown, the head football coach at Ingalls High School says he told his players after learning about Luke’s passing.

“Any death is one death too many. We are just heartsick any time a youngster prematurely passes because of whatever reason”, said Mr Musselman. The centre said seven of those deaths were directly related to a football trauma and four were indirectly related, meaning other health issues contributed to the death.
