A Kansas man is charged with animal cruelty after police said he tried to use a dog as a weapon. The officer found 26-year-old Michael Rush walking a dog through residents’ backyards.

Rush was arrested, police said. Depending on the charges, the man might be able to get the dog back.
In the video, the man identified as Rush can be seen trying to walk away from the officer before charging at him.
The suspect was filmed scooping up the fluffy pooch and launching it at the officer.
Dashboard camera from the officer’s cruiser shows the man lunge at the officer, who responds by using pepper spray and deploying his Taser.
Witnesses were impressed by the officers, “The way they handled it really surprised me”. This dog’s not here by its own choice, and it’s used as a weapon.
The dog is OK and now in the protective custody at the animal shelter.

Rush isn’t the first person to use a dog as a defense mechanism.
