Kansas outlasts Oklahoma in 3 OTs
West Virginia is ranked 17th after a 12-1 start.

Kansas certainly looked as if they were in the business of protecting their home court in an emphatic manner for much of the first half.
Perrantes made six three-pointers in the second half and led Virginia (12-2, 1-1) with 22 points, but LeDay swatted his driving layup in the final seconds, preserving Virginia Tech’s slim margin.
Carrington Love scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half as Green Bay erased a 10-point deficit.
Out of the break, it was the Sooners who extended their lead and seemed to be in control. So even though Oklahoma is one of the nation’s top teams and will be around deep into March, it’s still the Jayhawks’ conference to rock and chalk.
Hield was so good that he churned through three different defenders, getting Selden and Graham into foul trouble and forcing Mason onto him for the balance of the game.
It came December 7, 1994, when Kruger’s sixth-ranked Florida Gators traveled to Lawrence to face the No. 4 Jayhawks. Woodard fouled out in the final seconds of the third overtime….
“I could play two more overtimes right now”, Mason (15 points, 5-20 shooting) said with a smile. But after Mason drove the lane with six seconds left and missed the shot, Kansas forward Landen Lucas was called for a foul on the rebound. Devonte’ Graham, who played nearly too frenetically early, hit the go-head free throws and then Frank Mason III, his backcourt mate, sealed the victory for Kansas, swiping an Oklahoma inbounds pass.
Oklahoma was 16/33 (48.5) from behind the arc (which includes the desperation shot at the end of the game). His desperation 3 banged off the backboard at the end of the third overtime, ending a sequence in which Oklahoma committed a pair of late turnovers.
The Jayhawks looked like they would end it in regulation after Hield made two free throws with 21.3 seconds left to tie the game at 77-77. In fact, the Sooners proved they are one of the two best teams in the country along with Kansas.
The home team came roaring back to jump out to a 102-98 lead, though, thanks to four made free throws; Hield wasn’t about to let that stand, though, as he hit a huge three to trim the lead back to one. Then he smiled and told his players to go enjoy the rest of night – this historic night of college basketball that’ll be remembered for a long, long time.
Down 1, Hield was inbounding the ball on the sideline at halfcourt. After making both, the Sooners still had a chance.
This is one of the best games I have ever seen.
Buddy Hield’s 46 points ties the most by a player in Division I college basketball this season.
GREENWOOD, Miss. – Ashley Beals had 20 points and 14 rebounds in 39 minutes to lift Mississippi Valley State (3-8, 1-0 SWAC) over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-9, 0-1).
Hield scored a career-high 46 points (13 field goals on just 23 shots), and added eight rebounds and seven assists for good measure.

The Jayhawks are deep and experienced, and they’ve now scored over 100 points in each of their first two Big 12 games.
