Texas Tech has an explosive offense that averages more than 60 points in Lubbock, but K-State did little to stop the Red Raiders on Saturday. Looking to put the game away, Tech hands the ball to DeAndre Washington who had a monster game, but fumbles while trying to move the pile an extra yard or two.
Meanwhile, the Wildcat offense offered no relief, going scoreless in the first quarter. “That puts you behind”.
Hubener threw both his touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats tried for a second comeback. Kansas State Wildcats recorded 157.3 passing yards and 156.0 rushing yards while allowed 269.7 passing yards and 147.4 russhing yards with turnover differential of 0.3. Mahomes also connected with Devin Lauderdale for a 19-yard touchdown.
The ensuing possession was pivotal for the Red Raiders and the offense would respond with an 8-play, 81-yard drive which would end on a 20-yard shovel pass for a touchdown from Mahomes to Stockton giving Tech a 42-28 lead. The ensuing kickoff would be taken 93 yards to the house by Kansas State’s Morgan Burns to tie the game with 11:56 left in the first quarter.
Thankfully, Texas Tech avoided that situation all together with a win against Kansas State, and should have plenty of momentum heading into their Thanksgiving- day showdown in Austin. He found Dominique Heath for a 6-yard score and a 33-yard touchdown to Kyle Klein. The Wildcats led Oklahoma State before a second-half collapse in a 36-34 loss, and led TCU by 18 at the break before falling 52-45 a few weeks ago. Over under has seen the Texas Tech Red Raiders go a 4-3 so far, while the Kansas State Wildcats go 7-2.
