Kante eager for Champions League chance

He claims the turning point in Leicester’s fairy-tale triumph came when boss Claudio Ranieri gave them a week off after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Tottenham Hotspur in February.

Star striker Jamie Vardy and attacker Riyad Mahrez are among the 10 nominees, along with captain Wes Morgan, tireless midfielder N’Golo Kante and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Foxes were 5000/1 to win the title this season and against all the odds they managed to clinch the prestigious Premier League trophy.

“I want to thank the magnificent players I had this season because they were the ones who made this dream come true for so many people”. I wanted to go back so bad, that I would have accepted a team from the Football League [the English Serie B].

“We don’t know if they we can surprise in Europe, we have just joined at this moment, we will see”. We will sit down together and when we talk about something, it’s long term, not just until September. It’s what they’re prepared to give to the team when we haven’t got it.

Former Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie has showered Claudio Ranieri with heavy praise following Leicester City’s sensational Premier League success. We will be back on that training field this week and hopefully putting a performance in on Sunday that gets us another win’.

Many regard the Foxes’ achievement as one of football’s greatest success stories, however, the Italian tactician feels Forest’s success from 1976 to 1980 was even more impressive.

Deeney, who has scored 12 Premier League goals this season, has impressed for the Hornets after taking over as captain. Following their Premier League victory, the club’s Thai owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is set to gift the entire title-winning squad a £32,000 Mercedes each.

But, with Leicester looking to compete in the Champions League next season, Vardy, who signed a new contract in March, is adamant he will ignore any big-money offers.

Vardy was at the King Power Stadium on Monday to mark the official launch of his V9 Academy, created to discover non-League talent, and was still struggling to comprehend his remarkable journey.
