Kante leaves English champion Leicester to join Chelsea
Today Chelsea also announced a deal to sign midfielder Kante from Leicester City for a reported £32m, but that’s not the end of their spending spree.

As N’Golo Kante signs for Chelsea, the French midfielder is described as a “perfect fit’ by Blues director Michael Emenalo”.
The Frenchman is eager to work under the tutelage of multiple league title winning Conte next season, and is looking forward to meeting his new team-mates during pre-season. “It’s a dream come true for me”, Kante told www.chelseafc.com.
Kanté is Chelsea’s second acquisition of the summer after completing the £33m signing of the Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille on 3 July.
File picture shows France’s N’Golo Kante, Anthony Martial and Dimitri Payet reacting at the end of the Euro 2016 final match against Portugal at Stade de France, Saint-Denis near Paris, July 10, 2016.
‘For a player of his age he has already built up a wealth of experience and his exceptional quality will without doubt be a great addition to the team’.
And players like Kante as well as Riyad Mahrez (who is also speculated to be going elsewhere) know that if they don’t move and “cash in” now to move to a bigger team, that opportunity may pass if Leicester can not perform like they did last season.
Mahrez joined Leicester as an unknown quantity while they were in the Championship, and he soon adhered himself to supporters by playing a key role in the club’s ensuing promotion.
In what appeared to be a dig at Chelsea’s lack of European football, the official Champions League account pointed out that Kante had turned his back on Europe’s top club competition.
“I am very happy because together with the club we are working to improve the squad”.
