Kanye West impromptu NY gig cancelled due to ‘near-riot’ outside
However, Kanye still wanted to make up for his Governors Ball cancellation and his creative director Virgil Abloh wrote on Instagram that Kanye would doing a full set of his album The Life of Pablo “at 2am in Manhattan” on Monday, but didn’t disclose the location. But once word started spreading of a Webster Hall gig, thousands swarmed on 11th Street in the East Village, with one observer noting “near-riot” conditions, with people on top of cars and shouting “F– Gov Ball”.

After the cancellation of his festival-closing set at Governors Ball, Kanye West quickly crossed into New Jersey to join his GOOD Music labelmates at HOT 97’s Summer Jam, which itself was plagued by today’s inclement weather, as the Festival Stage was cancelled and the Stadium Stage didn’t get going until nearly 10PM.
KANYE West fans in NY were left disappointed and wandering the streets in the early hours of the morning (May 6). And at 1:45 a.m., Webster Hall announced there would be “no late show”.
Many people got injured during the chaos.
A Snapchat of Kanye, reportedly taken by his wife Kim Kardashian, show him telling someone to speak to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to shut down some streets so those outside could enjoy the show as well.
Then the police got involved. Doh! “I know it’s sold out already”. Even as the show was canceled, fans refused to budge, with officers yelling to the massive crowd, “please go home”.

But fans were seen running to Third Ave., where Kanye and Travis Scott were seen cruising down the block as ‘Ye stuck his torso out of the front of the truck he was in.
