Via online streaming, more than 20 million viewers watched him debut his new album, The Life Of Pablo, and his clothing collection during a New York Fashion Week runway show last Thursday.

In the past week alone, ‘Ye has sent tweets about being $53 million in debt, allegedly receiving Taylor Swift’s approval for a song featured on The Life Of Pablo, and more. Tidal subscriptions have taken a huge leap after the release of these two albums. This includes his Good Friday songs, which will also launch on Tidal and nowhere else.

West soon pleaded to his fans on Twitter, asking them to actually use TIDAL as his album would never be released elsewhere.

West initially tweeted that the album would go on sale but would be delayed by a week.

Despite being hyped as the first artist-owned streaming service, co-owned by Kanye and headed by Jay-Z, the company has previously failed to shine against its competition in the music-streaming world, which is now dominated by Spotify and Apple Music. This caused a number of the service’s key members to rant about how artists don’t get paid enough and that Tidal is the only service which offers fair pay to musicians.

Whether or not Kanye is actually apologizing remains to be seen, but it’s a far more humble side to the rapper than has been seen in years.

According to the latest estimates by Torrent Freak, Kanye’s plan to push the premium site backfired when his fans opted to seek alternative means to get their hands on the copy of the sought after album. Well, mostly because it was the most cited source of the downloads, though there’s no doubt that other piracy and Torrent-related sites have given users access to the album.
