Even though a lot happened at the show, the Washington Post’s Robin Givhan wasn’t thrilled.
In addition to the problematic shoes, critics began pointing out other flaws in the Season 4 experience, including the fact that all of the models were dressed in winter clothing while standing outside in 80-degree weather. It was so hot during the show that one model passed out and another struggled with broken heels. “At the beginning of this performance I tried my best to not try”, he said, according to an AP report (via Pitchfork). One fan who was lucky enough to be at the same show couldn’t believe his luck, and tweeted: ‘Saw Jay Z, Beyonce was behind him, Scott Disick was in the crowd and Travis [Scott] was in the mosh pit.
Kanye West’s reps say the quality of the shoes will be “heavily addressed in the pre-production process” and that shoes seen on the runway were in the “sample, prototype stage”.

NYFW wraps on September 14, so there are still plenty of opportunities presented by various venues and runways for West to keep creating – and keep creating controversy.
