Kanye West to receive MTV Video Vanguard Award

MTV has announced that Pharrell, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky and Twenty One Pilots will perform live at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with nine Moonmen in her sights, but Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé follow close behind with six and five respectively.

It’s been a cruel summer for Kanye West fans. From his first appearance onstage in 2004 to that time he didn’t let Taylor Swift finish, West has no doubt been responsible for some of the show’s most memorable moments.

The self-styled “Yeezus” figure is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend.

As if Kanye West hasn’t made enough VMA history already – MTV has announced that the rapper and designer will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on Sunday night.

Earlier this week, Swift introduced by way of that she is going to premiere her “Wildest Goals” music video on the MTV VMA. He is part of the Best Video with a Social Message nominees for collaborating with Big Sean and John Legend on the clip for “One Man Can Change The World”. The music TV channel also referred to West’s unique staged performances, such as 2013’s “Blood on the Leaves” and “Otis” with Jay Z in 2011.

The father to two-year-old daughter North has been making music videos since 2003 beginning with his first single ever titled Through The Wire.

Previously announced confirmed acts include The Weeknd, while there is speculation in the media that Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar are also expected to perform at the event.
