Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Introduced Himself As Michael Jordan At The DNC

“I’m Michael Jordan, and I’m here with Hillary”, Abdul-Jabbar said to open his speech as the crowd laughed and cheered. “I only say that because Donald Trump couldn’t tell the difference”.

This year’s Democratic National Convention wrapped up on Thursday. No, it wasn’t Michael Jordan, but Kareem Abdul-Jabbar brought his name up in humorous fashion in order to mock Donald Trump.

The retired Laker then told the story of the late Army Captain Humayun Khan, one of 14 American-Muslim soldiers who have died in combat while serving the United States since 9/11.

“They are the opposite of what Jefferson wanted because they allow discrimination”, he said.

He added, “At its core, discrimination is the result of fear”.

Abdul-Jabbar received widespread praise for his speech on Twitter, including this note from Hall of Famer James Worthy. Khan’s father, Khizr Kahn, issued an emotional rebuke of Trump for his rhetoric toward Muslims.

After Kareem introduced a video about Captain Khan, his parents came out to speak, addressing Donald Trump directly. “He disrespects other minorities, women, judges – even his own party’s leadership”. “Have you even read the Constitution?”

Khan then reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a copy of the U.S. Constitution.
