Still, the defeat was sure to prompt soul-searching in a party that is shut out of power in Washington and has steadily lost influence at the state level in recent years. But, to quote Taylor Swift, they’re not out of the woods yet.
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters told reporters aboard Air Force One that Karen Handel’s win serves as proof that “the American people are resonating with the president’s agenda” and want to see his agenda enacted. She would also know that Trump owes his presidency as much to votes from disgruntled Democrats who once voted for Obama twice, as he does to rural Republican voters. Bloomberg further said that Trump’s long-shot candidacy shows that “You can get elected President of the United States without spending a lot of money”.
Senate Republicans have been meeting behind closed doors to try and seek agreement on repealing sections of the Affordable Care Act, Barack Obama’s signature healthcare reform which became known as Obamacare. Put another way: You may as well just flip a coin right now to try to predict the future.

When the astonishingly awful health plan is finally made public and people watch their parents, children, siblings and friends be denied health care, and when they experience the full horror of President Trump’s foreign policy, Democrats will win in district after district, if they do the groundwork that is always necessary to win elections. Both contests were held to replace lawmakers who vacated their seats in order to join the Trump cabinet.
