Karine Icher leads Canadian Women’s Open after opening round 7 under
She missed some putts which could have lowered her score but remained happy with her round.

“It was a pretty good way to finish my career with them”, said Marchand, whose NCAA career included three individual tournament wins as well as a sixth place finish at nationals during her sophomore year. “I had one in a practice round before, but it was only me, nobody really saw it”. “Just have fun out there tomorrow”.
Last Sunday, she became the third-youngest victor in LPGA history when she curb-stomped the field at the Cambia Portland Classic.
Top-ranked Inbee Park, the Women’s British Open victor in her last start, had a 71. “I am actually feeling quite comfortable with where I am at right now”.
Ko felt plenty of support in Vancouver, the site of her history-making win in 2012. “That is kind of my two-day (goal), just to play well enough to play the next two days”. “I’ve had a lot of attention and lot of things I’ve had to do over the last couple of days”, Henderson said.
“It’s my first hole-in-one in a tournament”.
American Alison Lee had one of the day’s best rounds. The four-time LPGA Tour victor added birdies on Nos. Stacy Lewis, I.K. Kim, Pernilla Lindberg and Danah Bordner are in a tie for third after hitting four-under-par 68s.
“It wasn’t a great day out there but I ground it out pretty well”, said the 17-year-old.
“I’ve been in contention a couple of times but it was a learning experience”. “I hit a pretty good bunker shot in there, I just under-read the putt a little bit”. The 34-year-old native of Taiwan who now calls Texas home carries a two-shot lead into Saturday’s third round over New Zealand’s Lydia Ko and Karine Icher of France.
She’s now in position to go one better than that and earn her fifth LPGA Tour victory and her first since 2008.
Henderson finished eight shot ahead of three golfers who tied for second, the largest margin of victory in tournament history, two better than those of Juli Inkster (1999) and Ayako Okamoto (1986), who won under a 54-hole format. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to make as big an impact in the years coming still”. But you just never know. Other than that it could have been good. “Someone that tells me what to do when I’m not playing well, and tells me what to do when I am keeping it on a roll, that’s really important”.

Starting on the back nine, Henderson was three over at the turn, and four over when she drove into the right rough on No. 1, and had no angle to the green, leading to another bogey. The problem is her putter has turned colder than Cape Dorset.
