Karolyi’s ‘Final Five’ US team wins gymnastics gold
Having dominated the Olympic qualifiers, it’s no surprise the US gymnastics team just won gold in the all-around finals. Still, it wasn’t enough to send her through to the next round. Biles is favored to take home the gold in every event, as well as the team competition.

“I regret that I wasn’t more clear in my wording on the air”, Trautwig said in a statement.
Women’s gymnastics competition resumes Thursday with the individual all-around final, with Biles and Raisman representing the United States.
It was a day that illustrated the rapidly increasing gap between the US men’s and women’s teams. In 2012, they were first after qualifying and placed fifth.
Raisman has been vocal that her comeback was, in large part, motivated by her desire to get the all-around medal she was denied back in 2012.
Her final pass ends in a landing that is exactly in time with the music’s dramatic drum climax, and Biles finishes on the floor. The US led all countries with a total score of 185.238, nearly 10 points higher than the second-best team, China (175.279). Gabby Douglas matched her best score of the year with a 15.766, and Madison Kocian had the best score of her career with a 15.933. Ron Biles, her maternal grandfather, and his wife Nellie adopted Simone and her sister after they spent time in foster care.
Mark Williams, the USA head coach, said the team did everything right over the past six months.
Douglas finished third behind Simone Biles and Raisman.
“It’s not really a bummer”, Douglas said. Just look at her form mid air.
Douglas beamed when told what her coach said, but the comments were certainly no surprise to the 20-year-old. It’s going to be and HollywoodLife.com wants you to see. “Asafa needed one. So I’m a good teammate”. Douglas nails her landing off the bars and bounces off the landing pad, all smiles.
However there’s no reason to feel too bad for Douglas.

With two consecutive Olympic golds and world championships titles in 2011, 2014 and 2015, the USA women have made a seemingly unbreakable habit of winning. Only the uneven bars were left and Danell Leyva knew he had to be aggressive to give the team a chance. “I wanted to go out there and defend my title, but it is what it is”.
