The body of Momin Altaf was found with pellet injuries late last night, a police officer said today.
With one more youth succumbing to his injuries, the death toll in security force action has risen to 83 in Kashmir valley, where life remained crippled since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter. Doctors have been however stating that most of the injured persons wouldn’t get back the vision to live a normal life.
Fresh unrest gripped Srinagar as huge number of prostesters took to the street after after a 15-year-old boy was killed in pellet gun firing by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Harwan town on Friday.
“The boy was missing since Friday 5 p.m. Villagers searched for him in the area where the protesters were chased and found the body near the Dachigam gate”, Mubarik, a villager who gave only his first name, told IANS.
However, security forces say they had fired pellets from a distance and it should not have led to his death.
Defying curfew-like restrictions, people marched towards Theed in droves, said a resident.
All educational institutions, main markets, public transports and other businesses have remained closed in Kashmir Valley for the past 70 days.
In south Kashmir’s Dooru village, protesters clashed with forces soon after Friday prayers.
