Kashmir Violence: Go after those who are instigating, says Rajnath Singh

At a time when Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a hard times facing violence and terror, some youths from state are ready to die for unity and integrity of India and they are not even hesitating to join armed forces.

The visit, scheduled in July, was postponed due to the unrest in the Kashmir valley.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday directed security forces to go after those instigating youth to indulge in violence in Jammu and Kashmir and to try bring back normalcy in the Valley within a week.

The Home minister’s directive came during an hour-long meeting on Sunday which was attended by top security officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, besides others.

Sources said that Rajnath told officials that attempts should also be made to reopen shops and other commercial establishments. Issues related to Indo-Russia joint anti-terror operations including the ISIS are expected to be discussed.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to be on a week-long visit to the USA from September 25 to attend the Homeland Security dialogue. The two leaders will discuss Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in the violence-hit state of Jammu and Kashmir and the rise in terror activities of Isis in India and its neighbouring countries.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Russian Federation and United States of America next week for discussions on Homeland Security and cooperation in anti-terror operations.

On September 26, Singh will travel to Washington for a seven-day visit for the Indo-US Homeland Security Dialogue with his American counterpart Jeh Charles Johnson.

Mr. Singh is likely to hold dialogue with his USA counterpart, Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, on various issues – megacities policing; illicit finance, counterfeiting; cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection; port, border, maritime, transportation and supply chain security; science and technology cooperation and capacity building. Other issues to be discussed in the two visits include extradition of each other’s wanted criminals, liberalization of visas etc, sources said.

Singh will, on his USA visit, discuss a couple of important agreements that were signed recently, which include the Global Entry and the Homeland Security Presidential Directive-6 (HSPD-6).
