Government-enforced curfew and separatistcalled shutdown continued for an unprecedented 31st day on Monday in the Kashmir Valley as the death toll in the month-long unrest mounted to 58.

Reports said that seventeen year old teenager, Amir Bashir Lone, was seriously hurt on Friday last week when government forces used teargas canisters and fired pellets to disperse demonstrators in Sedow area of Shopian.
A youth was also killed during a military operation in the area.
He was reacting to the death of three persons in security forces action after violent protests yesterday.
He said the injured were taken to SMHS hospital here where one of them was declared “brought dead” by the doctors.
There were five incidents of stone-pelting on police deployments in Anantnag, Sopore and Bandipora districts, said a police spokesman.
Mobs reportedly threw stones at Kashmir’s Junior Health Minister Asia Naqash’s house in the state capital and MLA Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen’s home in Khan Sahib town, besides attacking police stations.
Fifty-two persons – mostly young boys – were killed and more than 5,000 others injured in clashes with security forces. At least 20 policemen and soldiers were also reported injured.
Wani attracted thousands of protesters to Khrew who turned up despite the curfew imposed in South Kashmir and a call by Hurriyet leaders to march to Hazratbal, Srinagar. Islamabad, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama remained under strict curfew, while restrictions continued in force Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara districts, police said.
Restrictions on the assembly of four or more people continue to remain in effect in rest of the Valley, he said.
The CRPF, which has been deployed in heavy numbers for maintaining law and order, had informed the state authorities that it is hard for it to ensure road opening along the Highway.

The Valley has been on the boil since July 8 after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani. All shops and business establishments, educational institutions, petrol pumps in Srinagar and other parts of Valley remained closed while public transport was off the roads. The separatist camp has extended the shutdown call in Kashmir till August 12 and has asked the people today to block all roads around Civil Secretariat Srinagar, deputy commissioners’ and Tehsil offices and ensure that no employee is able to join duty.
