Kasich in New Hampshire as field focuses on Iowa

The Boston Globe has issued its endorsement to Governor John Kasich, a presidential candidate in this year’s presidential election.

As the February 9 primary approaches, Kasich is seeing progress in polling, which suggests he is in a contest behind Trump with Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz.

John Kasich thinks he has the wind at his back as the clock ticks down to the first Republican presidential primary.

Undeclared voters, also termed independents, make up an approximate 44 percent of New Hampshire’s voters, and thus are critical in deciding the ultimate victor, reports Newsweek. On Wednesday, Kasich sent out an email heralding the poll, insisting he is “gaining on Trump and with twice as much support as Rubio, Cruz, Christie and Bush” in New Hampshire. Gordon Humphrey, who is also supporting him.

“I’m very proud of the campaign we’ve run”, he said.

“He is not only not with us, he is questioning the idea whether there is any serious need for religious liberty protections, and he is somebody who wants to claim that Common Core is a positive achievement”, he said.

After a final rally in New Hampshire before he would decamp to Iowa ahead of the caucuses, Bush was asked by RealClearPolitics if he thought he’d made a strong enough case in the Granite State that voters there could now pick him out of a lineup.

“I’m very optimistic that I could be the nominee”, said Kasich. “I think the problem with executive orders is that the president just basically thumbed his nose at the legislature and said, ‘I’ll just do this myself.’ Well, we don’t elect kings, we elect presidents”.

The Real Clear Politics average of the five most recent polls conducted in New Hampshire since January 13 show Donald Trump in first place at 32 percent, a 20 percent lead over his nearest rival. Sen.

Kasich, a Republican, stopped short of saying he’s putting all of his eggs in one primary basket, but political analyst Scott Spradling said the OH governor knows what’s at stake.

The Globe praised Kasich’s fiscal record as governor of OH and his concern for the poor.

On national security, Kasich is more alliance-builder than hawk.

Hillary Clinton says she wants the Democratic National Committee to add another presidential debate before the New Hampshire primary and urging Bernie Sanders to join her on stage. “You can live on the dark side, where you know, “woe is us” – the old Eeyore effect”. “Moreover, of nine candidates included in the survey, far more voters say each would make a “terrible” than “great” president”.

“That’s why I’m doing this”, he said, “because I’ve done it before”.

The Globe picks Kasich over the four other candidates in what they call “the sanity bracket”.

“Iowa’s so big, and there’s only so many resources and so many hours in the day”, Kasich said in an interview on Fox News earlier this month. He has also consistently shown his dedication to helping his state’s most vulnerable citizens through actions such as expanding Medicaid. But just last week, he landed in an unusual spot in New Hampshire, tying for second place among the state’s undeclared voters in a WBUR poll released January 21.
