Republican Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) has not shied away from publicly chiding the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump, stepping up his attacks Wednesday after the business mogul’s final primary opponent John Kasich bowed out of the race. Also, a lot of people were wondering why is he still campaigning, since it was clear that this was a two-man race, between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
She said “people that have never voted before and have been just apolitical “are supporting Trump”.
Meanwhile, Democratic contestant, Senator Bernie Sanders rebounded from a string of defeats to beat Hillary Clinton, who polls had shown winning the state.
Trump’s decisive victory in the in primary forced Cruz to suspend his candidacy and prompted speculation that Kasich, running a distant third, would do the same.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, has yet to dispatch her rival for the Democratic nomination, Vermont Sen. After his win in Indiana, Trump has 1,007 delegates. “They loved me”, he said.
The presidential race has been very close at times, but it now looks like it is over.
Erickson, a leader of the #NeverTrump movement, told CNN that he plans more such conversations in the coming days, and that the consensus among anti-Trump conservatives is that voters who won’t support Trump or Clinton need another option.
But Cruz suspended his presidential campaign Tuesday night after a devastating loss to Trump. The Texas senator left some unintentional parting gifts in his wake, which Trump will discover sooner or later. But as primary rivals, the relationship between Trump and Kasich hasn’t always been so rosy.
The two withdrawals shook the U.S. media, which, for long time, was reluctant to take Mr Trump as a serious candidate. Last week, there were protests during the Republican convention.
